The area surrounding Moulin Brûlé

We are situated in rural farmland with lovely views and sunsets. Our nearest town is the bastide of Eymet with a pretty medieval square with several bars and restaurants to chose from. Its about 5k away and roughly an hours walk.

Take a car or electric bike to visit nearby chateaux and plenty of wine tasting at the numerous vineyards.

River Swimming

Being so far from the sea the French take full advantage of their rivers for swimming. There are various places along the banks of the Dordogne to swim. At Castelmoron there is an artificial beach on the river with a small marina surrounded by flat cycle paths.

Cycling

Cycling in the surrounding area is for the fit. Being on the site of an old flour mill we are on the top of a hill. Its great leaving but a long hill coming back from every direction.

We have negotiated a very good rate to hire electric bikes. If you have never tried an electric bike its a absolute must. Pedalling can be virtually effortless, or you can change the gearing and choose the level of exertion. Helmets and paniers are provided. The battery is good for 50k so you really can explore much further afield.

Cycle to bastide towns Eymet and Miramont for markets and night markets.  Visit the chateau at medieval Lauzun or castle at Duras. It is possible to cycle as far as historic Bergerac.

The cycle hire company does escorted tours to vineyards and chocolate factory.

Walking

The campsite borders agricultural land and there are farm tracks nearby with no need to take the car if you want a walk through the countryside. Walking after sunset is not recommended as street lighting is scarce.

We have a DVD produced by the Pays de Lauzun detailing 20 local walks which you may borrow.
