River Swimming

Being so far from the sea the French take full advantage of their very clean rivers for swimming. There are various places along the banks of the Dordogne to swim. At La Roque-Gageac you can swim, canoe or take a boat trip down the river. There are toilet facilities and lots of picnic benches.

Castelmoron has an artificial beach on the river with a small marina you can wander around, surrounded by flat cycle paths.

Being on the site of an old flour mill we are on the top of a hill. Its great leaving but a long hill coming back from every direction. Unless of course you are riding an electric bike! We have 2 of them!!

If you have never tried an electric bike its a absolute must. Pedalling can be virtually effortless, or you can change the gearing and choose your desired level of exertion. Helmets and paniers are provided. The battery is good for 50k so you really can explore much further afield.

Cycle to bastide towns Eymet and Miramont for markets and night markets.  Visit the chateau at medieval Lauzun or castle at Duras. It is possible to cycle as far as historic Bergerac.

There is a cycle hire company nearby that does escorted tours to vineyards and chocolate factory.

The campsite borders agricultural land and there are farm tracks nearby with no need to take the car if you want a walk through the countryside. Walking after sunset is not recommended as street lighting is scarce.

We have a DVD produced by the Pays de Lauzun detailing 20 local walks which you may borrow.
